The Age of Artificial General Intelligence is Here – Nvidia

CEO of Nvidia – the company that holds approximately 80% of the global AI chip market – Jensen Huang, stated in an interview that he believes the age of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is here.

What is AGI?

The concept of AGI is one that splits opinion, primarily because there is no concrete shared definition for it. AGI is generally defined and understood as AI that can match or surpass human intelligence. It is a form of technology that can learn, adapt, and handle different kinds of work without needing retraining.

Huang made these comments on the Lex Friedman podcast last week. “I think it’s now. I think we’ve achieved AGI,” he said.

It is important to note the context in which Huang made these remarks. He was responding to whether the rise of AI agents would result in them creating and operating a business at the scale of Nvidia with zero human assistance or interference, which Huang clarified is not possible – yet.

“A lot of people use it for a couple of months and it kind of dies away. Now, the odds of 100,000 of those agents building Nvidia is zero percent,” the CEO indicated.

Huang’s comments were in relation to the rise in AI agents being created and implemented in various industries across the world tied to coding tools such as Anthropic’s Claude Code.
