MIME Launches 5-Year Strategic Plan

The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) launched its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, with a commitment to advancing Namibia’s industrialisation agenda.

IME Minister, Modestus Amutse, stated that through this Strategy, “we aim to reposition MIME as a dynamic catalyst for industrialisation and ensure that our foundation is strengthened to remain impactful and aligned with the developmental aspirations of our people.”

The Plan is aligned with Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan (NDP 6), which emphasises economic transformation, industrial development, energy security, sustainable resource management, institutional effectiveness, and inclusive growth.

The Strategy outlines five key pillars that define the Ministry’s mandate and operational direction. They are as follows:

  • infrastructure development;
  • manufacturing and value addition;
  • geoscience and natural resource development;
  • energy sustainability; and
  • good governance and operational excellence.

According to Amutse the focus areas are designed to enhance regulatory effectiveness, drive industrial growth, improve service delivery, strengthen governance, and ensure that Namibia’s natural and industrial resources contribute meaningfully to national prosperity.
