For many young Namibians, choosing a university is one of the most important decisions of their lives. It is not only about where they will spend the next three or four years, but also about the kind of future they will build. For Happiness Elijah Iyaloo, a Bachelor of Financial Management student at the International University of Management (IUM) Nkure-Nkuru Campus, the choice was clear.
“I decided to study at IUM because I wanted an institution that combines quality education with values that prepare me for real life,” she explained. “IUM stood out to me because it is proudly Namibian, yet its teaching is internationally recognised.”
More Than a Degree
According to Iyaloo, studying at IUM is not just about gaining theoretical knowledge. It is about learning how to apply that knowledge in ways that create real change. “Here, I feel I am not only acquiring skills for myself but also preparing to contribute meaningfully to my community and my country,” she said.
One of the features that inspired her most is IUM’s focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. She believes that students must be equipped not only to seek jobs but also to create them. “I wanted to be in a place where I am trained to manage resources, to innovate, and to become a solution to the challenges around me. IUM offers exactly that,” she noted.
Building Character and Confidence
For Iyaloo, the decision was also personal. She wanted a university that would mould her beyond academics. “I wanted to be part of a place that builds character, discipline, and confidence while still giving me the foundation to succeed anywhere in the world,” she emphasised.
Indeed, many IUM graduates attest to the institution’s ability to instil both knowledge and values, qualities that employers and communities value highly.
Why Study at IUM?
Through her journey, Iyaloo has discovered the unique benefits that make IUM stand out: Global Recognition, IUM qualifications are recognised beyond Namibia, opening doors for further studies and international employment, High-Quality Education Curricula meet international standards, aligning with the needs of modern industries, Networking Opportunities – Students connect with international lecturers, exchange programmes, and alumni networks, Preparation for Global Careers Graduates adapt easily to diverse economies and management systems, making them globally competitive and Entrepreneurial & Innovative Mindset – IUM cultivates critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills that empower graduates to lead change.
A Message to Future Students
To current Grade 11 and 12 learners, Iyaloo’s message is simple: IUM is not just a pathway to a degree, it is a pathway to the world. “Here, you are not only preparing for a career, but you are also preparing for a lifetime of impact. You gain the confidence to compete with the best, the creativity to create your own opportunities, and the values to stand tall in any environment,” she said. For those finishing school and wondering what comes next, Iyaloo encourages them to make the choice she made. “Let IUM be your choice. It is a place where your dreams can be shaped into reality, and where you are prepared not only for success but for significance.” Enrol Today at IUM!!!!! visit ium.edu.na
