Offices, Ministries and Agencies (OMAs) of government have been directed to accelerate the implementation of Presidential Directives by the National Planning Commission.
The directives emanated from various committees that were formed as a recommendation from the Namibia Public-Private Forum (NamPPF).
The Director General of the National Planning Commission made the call in a statement released yesterday.
He said the OMAs should not only accelerate but also provide accurate and timely progress updates and address outstanding challenges before the next Forum.
At the same time, he also reminded the private sector to be active partners in advancing reforms, mobilising and deploying capital; developing projects and creating decent employment opportunities.
The DG has also announced that the second NamPPF will be held ON 25-26 November 2026.
During the 2025 NamPPF, 171 solutions were proposed, and 34 presidential commitments were made.
The various task forces were also established after the first NamPPF, and they have done their assessments on their respective sectors and produced reports that were submitted to the President.
The President then gave the 34 directives to the OMAs to implement.
The tasks committees’ reports and the President’s directives, were, however, not made public to date.
The planned second NamPPF will be chaired by the President herself, and is planned to focus on accelerating competitiveness, enhancing reforms, and enabling the environment for PPPP projects.
The platform will also be used to give an update on how the government has transitioned from dialogue to commitment and implementation.
Commenting on the announcement, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said the credibility of the agenda on implementation.
She said all OMAs must take responsibility for implementing all Presidential Directives, removing obstacles to execution and reporting on measurable progress. Made since the first NamPPF.
The NPC, together with NIPDB and the NamPPF Committee, will continue to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Presidential Directives.
