The Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme, (NGH2P) has announced that Namibia will host its first Industrial Decarbonisation Workshop, with a focus on the Climate Investment Funds’ (CIF) Industrial Decarbonisation Programme (IDP).
According to the NGH2P, the workshop is an important step in translating Namibia’s green industrialisation ambitions into implementable projects, while strengthening transparency, coordination, and access to concessional climate finance.
The workshop is also expected to provide deeper insight into Namibia’s approach towards unlocking large-scale financing opportunities for local developers and industries. The workshop is set to bring together more than 100 project applicants, according to the Programme.
Also expected in attendance will be representatives from the CIF, the African Development Bank, the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation, the National Planning Commission, and other key stakeholders.
The Namibian government, through the NGH2P, invited potential project developers to submit proposals for green industrialisation initiatives last year. The NGH2P indicated that these projects are being considered for support through concessional financing of up to US$250 million, aimed at accelerating green industrialisation and advancing the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries.
