CRAN to Assess Telecom Service Quality

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) is further assessing the extent to which the current service levels of Telecom align with the applicable quality of service obligations and consumer protection expectations.

This comes after several public communication issued by Telecom Namibia regarding the disruption, as well as the ongoing efforts by technical teams to restore affected services.

In response to the matter, CRAN has formally summoned Telecom Namibia to an urgent and comprehensive briefing on the cause of the disruptions, and the interventions currently underway.

CRAN expects all licenced operators to maintain service quality standards and to ensure that consumers are kept informed during service disruptions.

The Authority will also assess the overall viability of Telecom Namibia’s business case in light of the continued network instability and compliance with other licence conditions.

This assessment will focus on whether Telecom Namibia is able to meet its licence obligations and uphold customer service and quality assurance standards.

CRAN said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and engage with Telecom Namibia as restoration efforts progress.
