Room Occupancy Rates Decreased by 3.9% in February 2026

 

 

According to the latest report from the Namibian Statistics Agency (NSA), the room occupancy rates for February 2026 decreased by 3.9% following a 16.7% decline recorded in January 2026.

 

The monthly decline is attributed to lower occupancy levels in hospitality establishments in the central region, while establishments in the coastal, southern, and northern regions experienced increases during the review period.

 

At the regional level, the report indicates that the central region experienced a significant decline, with occupancy levels dropping by 47.4%.

 

Conversely, the coastal region reported the highest increase of 37.1%, followed by the southern region with an 11.6% rise, while the northern region recorded an increase of 1.4% during the period under review.

 

Regarding available rooms in February 2026, the northern region recorded 29,176 available rooms, an increase from 24,583 and 20,412 rooms documented in January 2026.

 

Furthermore, in terms of sales, the report shows that during the period under review, 8,512 rooms were sold in the northern region, compared to 7,075 rooms sold in January 2026 and 5,698 rooms recorded in February 2025.

 

In the southern region, a total of 20,408 rooms were available, of which 6,685 rooms were occupied, leaving 13,723 rooms unsold during the month.
