Anderson Transport Namibia have become the latest company to demand for copy of proof of vaccination from all their employees.
A manager based in Nickel Street Prosperita, who refused to be identified, confirmed the veracity of the letter.
The manager, however, referred all questions to the headquarters in Wellington, South Africa.
In a message leaked to The Villager, Anderson Transport management informed all their drivers, assistants and learner drivers that they require all employees to be fully vaccinated by the 15th of November 2021.
“All employees must submit a copy of proof of vaccination to HR which will be kept on file and handled as confidential,” the letter says.
The management also wrote that employees who refuse to participate in the Government vaccination programme on either medical, religious or other reasons must apply for exemption from the Company by the latest 30th of Sept 2021.
“Should you not apply by this date, it will be considered that you abide by the notice to vaccinate by the set date, exemption applications will be handled on a case by case basis.”
The message also noted that the company can in its sole discretion require unvaccinated personnel to present a negative comprehensive test at their own cost not older than seven days, unvaccinated personnel without a valid and negative PCR test can be prohibited from entering any of the company’s sites.
The Namibian reported on Monday that some companies were withdrawing the 13th cheque if their workers remain unvaccinated.
One of the companies named by The Namibian is Masterparts that has demanded that their workers must be vaccinated by 15 November 2021.
The paper also mentioned United Africa Group that has given their workers until 30 September 2021 to get vaccinated.
Attorney General, Festus Mbandeka recently stated that companies that demand mandatory vaccinations for their employees would not necessarily be breaching the constitution.
