The annual Tse Yaa Kuku Easter football tournament took place in the Eheke District from 3 to 6 April 2026. The sixth edition of the tournament featured boosted prize money, as well as women’s football – a first in the tournament’s history.

The tournament featured over twenty teams across the youth, legends’, and women’s divisions. The youth teams battled it out for a N$35,000 cash prize, whilst the legends (players above 35 years old) battled it out for N$10,000. The women’s division initially had N$2,000 allocated for the winners, but was doubled to N$4,000 after stellar performances.

The runner-up in the youth division received N$20,000, while the legends and women’s runner-ups received N$5,000 and N$3,000 respectively. The winners of each division also received a full playing kit.

ALV Consulting Engineers FC stole the show, winning both the youth and women’s divisions. The legends’ division was won by Northern Coaches FC.

Dasilva Abraham, one of the tournament organisers, stated that the purpose of the tournament is to keep young people busy and boost the local economy.

“The tournament started in 2021 with a small investment of N$20,000. Since then, Lumumba Kathindi stepped in with additional investment to ensure that the tournament happens every year,” Abraham said in an interview with Eagle FM. This year’s tournament received a total investment of N$135,000.

“This year, we added women’s football to prove to the community that whatever men can do, women can do as well,” stated Abraham. One of the participating women’s teams was Gramma FC, who also form part of the Oshana Women’s Football League.

Gramma FC’s head coach praised the tournament for this inclusion of women’s football, sharing that “To be included in this tournament gives us great motivation. It also helps us prepare for our upcoming fixtures.”

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony, Lumumba Kathindi, the main sponsor of the tournament via Tse Yaa Kuku Investment, praised the women for their performances.

“These ladies play exceptional football. I have to apologise because I did not know they can play this well. That is why I decided to double the prize money and next year I assure the prize money for the women will increase,” Kathindi remarked.
