The non-banking financial Institutions regulator, NAMFISA, has announced that it will organize another FinTech event in October in continuation of the series that started in 2022.
For the 2026 event, the Fintech Square, which is planned for 14 October 2026, will focus on regulation, collaboration, and capital for Namibia’s FinTech Future.
In a statement released during the launch last week, NAMFIS indicated that this time the conference will focus on moving from ecosystem building to ecosystem activation.
It will also host the first-ever Pitch Arena and Cohort 2 of the NAMFISA Regulatory Sandbox.
The event aims to connect NAMFISA with innovators, consumers, the NBFI sector, and fellow regulators.
NAMFISA explained that the event is structured around the changes in technologies and needs seen in the market.
The financial sector is experiencing unprecedented transformation driven by technological innovation.
These include digital payments, artificial intelligence, data analytics, blockchain technologies, and other emerging solutions which are reshaping how financial services are designed, delivered, and accessed.
According to NAMFISA, these developments present opportunities to improve financial inclusion, enhance efficiency, strengthen consumer experiences and support economic growth.
At the same time, the regulator has noted that the rapid innovation requires continuous engagement among regulators, industry participants, technology providers, investors, policymakers and consumers.
This is to ensure that innovation remains responsible, inclusive and beneficial to society.
Moreover, the conference seeks to advance dialogue, collaboration and innovation within Namibia’s financial services ecosystem.
At the same time, it provides an opportunity to explore emerging trends, discuss regulatory developments, showcase innovative solutions and jointly identify pathways for advancing a modern and inclusive financial sector.
This year’s conference promises to bring together local, regional and international experts to discuss critical topics affecting the future of finance.
