Zuma lawyers arrested in Windhoek

Two South African lawyers Advocated Dawie Joubert and Advocate Mike Hellens were arrested in Windhoek by home affairs officials for practising without work permits.

Known as Zuma lawyers, Joubert is representing former justice minister Sacky Shanghala, while Mike Hellens is representing former fisheries minister Bernhard Esau.

The advocates were arrested in court before proceedings on the matter involving their clients who are accused in the N$150m fishrot scandal that has rocked Namibia and Iceland.

Both advocates previously represented former South African President, Jacob Zuma, in his corruption case.

Shanghala and Esau are part of what is now known as the Fishrot 6 that includes James Hatuikulipi, his cousin and Esau’s son-in-law Tamson, Ricardo Gustavo and Pius Mwatelulo.

The fishrot 6 were supposed to appear before Windhoek Magistrate Court before magistrate Linus Samunzala Samunzala
