Between 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2025, N$5 billion of the local pool of savings has been channelled to unlisted companies and projects, according to Namfisa.

Unlisted companies or projects are those with shares that are not listed/sold on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX), with majority of Namibian companies not listed.

Over the same period, the total committed capital increased by 13.3 percent to N$5.3 billion.

In comparison to the listed space in the same period, N$97.7 billion of local savings are invested in listed equities while N$95.0 billion is invested in listed debt instruments. This shows capital is more accessible in the listed space compared to the unlisted space.

The N$5 billion disbursed to the unlisted companies and projects was mostly used for equity financing.

As at 31 December 2025, it accounted for 63.5 percent of the total financing share, up from 60.9 percent in the previous reporting period. In contrast, debt funding declined to 36.5 percent from 39.1 percent.

“This indicates a growing preference for channelling new funds through equity-focused special purpose vehicles,” Namfisa noted.

Asset managers have mandates of where to invest the savings, and regulations determining how much exposure or savings they ought to deploy towards both unlisted and listed assets.

The top three unlisted investment managers committed capital accounting for 45.4 percent of the market share.

Eos Capital held the largest share at 21.2 percent, followed by Ino Harith Capital at 14.8 percent and Old Mutual Alternative Investments (Namibia) Ltd at 9.5 percent.

The primary sectors of investment were electricity and water, agriculture, forestry and fishing, and manufacturing.

These sectors accounted for 17.5 percent, 17.0 percent, and 10.3 percent, respectively, of the total investments in unlisted companies.

According to Namfisa, during the period under review, a total of 7,943 people were employed, comprising 6,646 permanent and 1,297 temporary positions.

This represents a 7.3 percent decrease from the 8,571 employed in the previous period.
