Chairperson of the Brave Warriors 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Committee, Tim Ekandjo, announced that African Stars will face off against Eeshoke Chula Chula on 31 August at the Independence Stadium.

Currently the most popular local football fixture in terms of fanfare, the matchup will act as the final fundraiser for the Brave Warriors before they travel to Botswana for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Malawi and São Tome Principe on 5 and 9 September respectively.

The committee, which was established in May, set a goal of raising N$9.8 million which will go towards appearance fees, winning bonuses, and other operational costs. After last month’s fundraising gala dinner, the committee is N$7 million short of its total goal.

General access tickets for the match are priced at N$50 and VIP tickets are N$500.

Ekandjo revealed that corporate Namibia will have the opportunity to buy the exclusive branding rights to the fixture for N$400,000. It will cost the committee an estimated N$800,000 to put on the exhibition.

The City of Windhoek will provide buses to transport fans to and from the stadium.

“As African Stars, we are deeply honoured to participate in this fundraising for the Brave Warriors. We are cognisant that the fundraising process reflects deep-rooted problems and gaps in our football,” stated Paavo Eiseb of African Stars.

“In as much as it is a game of football, one needs to look at the bigger picture of this initiative, which is to raise funds for the Brave Warriors. It is our dream to see our Brave Warriors on the big stage of the World Cup,” said Chula Chula’s Silas Shipandeni.

Ekandjo also confirmed that fans travelling to Botswana for the qualifiers will be able to watch the matches free of charge.

Namibia currently sits in second place in Group H, four points behind leaders Tunisia, with four games to go.
