Bachelor of Education in Senior Primary Education (Honours) – Grade 4–7 (NQF Level 8)

This four-year programme prepares future educators to teach learners during the critical senior primary phase, where foundational knowledge is strengthened and learners transition into more advanced academic studies.

Applicants may qualify through one of the following admission routes:

– A valid NSSCO, NSSAS, NSSCH, HIGCSE, IGCSE, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 25 points on the Welwitchia University Evaluation Scale, based on the best five subjects, including English with at least a D symbol, together with the relevant teaching specialisation subjects.

OR

– A minimum of 22 points in five subjects, including English with at least an E symbol, together with an NQF Level 6 qualification or higher.OR Mature Age Entry, available to applicants who are at least 25 years old, possess a minimum of three years’ experience in education, have at least 20 Grade 10 points including an E in English, submit an employer’s recommendation, and successfully pass the Mature Age Entry Test. OR  Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for applicants aged 23 years or older who have completed relevant short courses and meet the University’s RPL requirements.

Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education (Honours) – Grade 8–12 (NQF Level 8)

For those wishing to become secondary school teachers, Welwitchia University also offers the Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education (Honours), a programme specifically designed to prepare educators for Grades 8 to 12.

 

Applicants should possess

– A minimum of 25 points on the Welwitchia University Evaluation Scale based on five best subjects from NSSCO, NSSCAS, HIGCSE, IGCSE, or equivalent qualifications, including at least a D symbol in English and two major teaching subjects. OR  A minimum of 22 points in five subjects, including English with an E symbol, together with an NQF Level 6 qualification or higher.

OR

– Mature Age Entry for applicants aged 25 years or older with at least three years of relevant educational work experience, a minimum of 20 points in NSSCO/IGCSE or equivalent, an employer’s recommendation, and successful completion of the Mature Age Entry Test. OR Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for applicants aged 23 years and above who have completed relevant short courses and satisfy the University’s RPL requirements.
