For many young Namibians, choosing the right university is one of the most defining decisions of their academic and professional journey. For Elina Kaimbi, an IUM alumna, the decision was shaped by a desire for a place where she could grow, belong, and build the strong foundation she needed for her future.
Today, as she reflects on her journey, she proudly declares: “IUM, my University.”
Kaimbi recalls that her choice to study at the International University of Management was not just about academics, it was about finding a home where she felt supported, encouraged, and safe.
“I chose to study at IUM because I wanted a place where I could feel supported while building my future. IUM felt like the right environment for me: safe, welcoming, and focused on helping students to grow. I believed it was a place where I could do my best and be myself,” she explained.
This sense of belonging became the backbone of her educational journey. At IUM, she found not only a university, but also a community that recognised her potential. The environment nurtured her dreams, strengthened her confidence, and helped her develop both academically and personally. With every class, interaction, and experience, her conviction grew stronger: she was exactly where she needed to be.
When speaking about the quality of education at IUM, Kaimbi is firm and clear: “I would say the education at IUM is good and continuously improving every year,” she says. She attributes this consistent progress to the dedication and professionalism of the lecturers. “The lecturers teach clearly, know their work well, and help students understand the lessons in many ways,” she adds.
To her, IUM’s teaching culture goes beyond delivering content, it is about ensuring that students truly understand, engage, and apply what they learn. The university’s commitment to academic growth is evident in the way lecturers adopt different teaching methods, offer support when needed, and strive to connect theory with real-world relevance. This approach, she believes, is one of the reasons IUM graduates are increasingly recognised in various sectors across Namibia.
Beyond academics, Kaimbi highlights the opportunities that come with being part of the IUM community. Whether it is the exposure to leadership roles, teamwork, research skills, or career development initiatives, IUM continues to open doors for students willing to put in the effort. For her, these opportunities played a key role in shaping her character and preparing her for life beyond university. She emphasises that the institution is committed to the success of its students, something she has experienced firsthand.
Now, as a proud alumna, Kaimbi carries the IUM identity with honour. When asked what she would tell prospective students considering joining the university, her message was simple but powerful: “I would tell them to go for it. If they work hard and stay focused, IUM can give them a good learning environment and many opportunities.”
Her encouragement comes from a place of genuine experience. She knows the value of determination, discipline, and commitment. But she also knows the importance of a university that meets students halfway, one that provides space to grow, resources to learn, and a culture that uplifts. In her view, IUM embodies these qualities. As she concludes her reflection, she proudly echoes a sentiment shared by thousands who have walked through the university’s doors:
“We are IUM, a university dedicated to its people’s future.”
