Man rapes woman after promising her a job

An 18-year-old Angolan woman was allegedly raped last Friday by a man who promised to link him up with a sister of his he claimed works at Ongwediva’s Medipark private hospital as a domestic worker.
Oshana Nampol Spokesperson Inspector Thomas Aiyambo said the rape occurred around 23h00 on Friday and Saturday at around 05h00, Oshoopala location.
“Allegations are that the victim met the suspect at Oshakati open market and she was looking for a job. The suspect promised her that he has a sister who works at Medipark Ongwediva and she needs a domestic worker. The suspect went with the victim to his house in Oshoopala location where he promised that the sister wuld come to pick her up. The alleged sister never turned up and when they went to sleep, the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim without, her consent,” Aiyambo said.
The suspect has not been arrested.

In another rape incident, police in Oshana region are investigating a matter in which a 20-year-old woman was raped by a man on her way from a party.
“It is alleged that the victim received a text message from an unknown number claiming that it was her cousin Namutenya, and she is inviting her to her party that is at Opoto location. In the text, the victim was directed to take a taxi to Erongo Commercial Vehicle.
When she reached there she found a man, the suspect, waiting for her at the Erongo Commercial vehicle and the man told her that he was sent by Namutenya to take her to Opoto. The victim walked with the man to the bushy road going to Oikango combined school,” Aiyambo narrated.
According to him, when the two arrived at Oikango combined school, the man pulled her into the toilet and raped the woman. He added that the victim does not know the suspect, but she can identify him if she sees him.
He has not been arrested as of yet.

In a separate incident, police in Ongwediva is investigating a matter in which a 30-year-old man shot himself at Tafel bar yesterday.
Aiyambo says the incident occurred around 01:00 and the victim is from Oshinyadhila village.
“He shot himself in the forehead on top of the right eye with a pistol, causing him serious injuries. He is now admitted at Oshakati state hospital,” Aiyambo added.

Meanwhile, a Housebreaking incident was reported at Joe Archer flats in Ongwediva yesterday between 01H00 and 06H00 when an unknown suspect gained entry into the sleeping room through the window while the complainant, a 37-year-old Malawian man was sleeping.
An HP laptop valued at N$18000, two Samsung phones valued at N$5000-00 and with a combined value of N$23000-00 were stolen.
No recoveries were made and the suspect is at large.
