
Scammers are targeting Windhoek residents, threatening to cut off their various municipal services if funds are not transferred to settle them.
City of Windhoek management issued this warning to its residents.
“Please take serious note of this warning regarding an ongoing scam targeting our community,” the City wrote.
The City of Windhoek has been alerted to incidents where scammers are calling residents, threatening them with suspension or disconnection of municipal services unless immediate payments are made via e-wallet or other mobile money wallets.
Some scammers have even reportedly visited homes, attempting to collect said payments in person.
The City reiterated that all payments tailored for the its services will never be required to be made at indiciduals’ homes.
