Nam AEO to Face Minimal Customs Scrutiny in SACU

Namibia’s Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) can now export within SACU with minimal time-consuming customs scrutiny, thanks to the South African Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs).

According to the Namibian Revenue Agency (NamRA), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) expanded the privileges of its Authorised Economic Operator Programme by concluding MRAs with key customs administrations such as SACU.

SARS’ MRA will also allow accredited AEOs in Namibia to benefit from mutual recognition across the region.

Namibia currently has five accredited AEOs, and NamRA encourages more businesses to enroll in the programme to leverage these benefits and further strengthen regional trade integration.

The AEO Programme, developed under the World Customs Organisation’s standards recognises compliant and secure traders as trusted partners, enabling faster customs clearance, fewer inspections, and enhanced supply chain security.
