The Capricorn Foundation, in partnership with Unmatched Potential – Business Box Namibia, has launched the Vocational Graduate Entrepreneurship Programme, as announced by the foundation this week.

The initiative aims to equip Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates with essential entrepreneurial skills, mentorship, and practical business experience. The programme seeks to nurture entrepreneurial mindsets, strengthen self-leadership, and contribute to reducing youth unemployment in Namibia.

The initiative is set to absorb 20 vocational graduates from the Erongo Region who have completed an accredited TVET course with level 3 or 4 qualifications within the past 1 to 5 years. Over three months, participants will receive practical guidance aimed at bridging the gap between technical training and business readiness.

Speaking at the launch in Swakopmund, Head of Capricorn Foundation, Veripura Muukua, stated that vocational graduates are at the heart of Namibia’s development story. With the ‘Be Your Own Boss’ programme, the Foundation will equip the young graduates not only with skills, but also real pathways to create opportunities for themselves.

“We believe that when youth are empowered to turn their talents into livelihoods, we strengthen families, communities, and ultimately the future of our country,” said Muukua.

She added that the initiative is more than a mentorship programme; it is a commitment to building a thriving entrepreneurial culture that unlocks Namibia’s unmatched potential.

Etienne Raymond, founder and CEO of Unmatched Potential – Business Box Namibia, said they are committed to helping the youth of Namibia unlock said potential.

“We believe that Namibians are talented and can create a world-class Namibia. Each person is unique, with a purpose and an entrepreneurial nature,” stated Raymond.

He emphasised the importance of changing the mindset of individuals as key to their transformation, noting that “If mindsets shift from ‘I need’ to ‘I create’, meaningful, sustainable livelihoods can be established,” he said.

The ‘Be Your Own Boss’ programme coaches participants on how to turn skills and talents into value with commercial benefits.

“Our goal is to create a world-class entrepreneurial culture in Namibia, in partnership with ChangeMakers like the Capricorn Foundation,” added Raymond

The project is now open for applicants from Erongo Region.
