Stage Audio Works Integrates AV Conferencing System At MTC

By: Staff writer

Mobile Telecommunications (MTC), working with Stage Audio Works (SAW), has its AV systems overhauled at the headquarters in Windhoek.

MTC needed technology upgrades and corporate AV systems to enhance communication and collaboration in several departmental boardrooms. SAW worked with MTC’s procurement and IT teams and lead with an internet of things (IoT) approach.

The project involved a comprehensive overhaul of MTC’s AV infrastructure in eight meeting rooms. A highlight of the project was the replacement and integration of the AV conference systems were replaced within the executive boardroom to support both in-person and hybrid meetings.

The system is based on Crestron control and Microsoft Teams and balances the specific needs of each department with the requirement for continuity and ease of use.

MTC’s executive boardroom required the largest installation with two Samsung 75-in Flip3 Interactive Displays, which provide a platform for collaborative discussions. A 1080p laser projector and a 180-in motorised projection screen provide additional visuals.

The Crestron AirMedia Series 3 Receiver ensures wireless connectivity and control is via Crestron DMPS-3. Audac ceiling speakers provide playback audio and Sennheiser’s TeamConnect ceiling mic with beamforming technology ensures all meeting attendees can be heard on the far end.

A Crestron 3-Series DigitalMedia presentation system enables content sharing and management from multiple devices whilst a Crestron Flex video conference kit for Microsoft Teams Rooms facilitates hybrid meetings.

Crestron touchscreens provide room scheduling and room control. Finally, the inclusion of a Crestron dual-technology occupancy sensor helps to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

Some of the rooms were fitted with 4,500 lumens 1080p laser projectors, coupled with the ceiling tab screens. The two technical departmental boardrooms featured alternative solutions including Samsung QE82T 82-in LFD UHD displays and one of them coupled with a Crestron Flex Teams Room video conference systems.

Construction delays due to the pandemic impacted the timeline and provided an additional challenge to the project.  However, the collaboration between SAW Namibia, NFM (Namibia Facility Management) who were the appointed project manager, and MTC’s procurement team resulted in the successful completion of the project.
