For June live exports, the exports consisted entirely of feeder cattle destined for South African feedlots.
Angola accounted for 8.90% (669 head) of total live exports, comprising cattle exported for breeding and the ‘other’ category, while Tanzania accounted for the remaining 0.40% (30 head), comprising breeding cattle.
For June 2026, feedlot-destined cattle accounted for the largest share (90.70%) of total live cattle exports, followed by cattle exported for breeding purchases (6.06%) and other purposes (3.25%).
Total cattle marketing increased by 21.58% month-on-month (m/m) from 18,732 head in May 2026.
The increase was primarily driven by a significant rise in live cattle exports, which increased by 42.29% m/m.
