Health Task Force Commissioned, Devises Recommendations

The Task Force on Health was validated last week, and it has met at its first workshop. The workshop was to validate and reach consensus on the identified priority areas and develop key recommendations aimed at strengthening the health system, improving access to quality services, and enhancing overall health outcomes.

According to the National Planning Commission (NPC), which is the coordinating body, the workshop provides an opportunity for the experts to validate the proposed recommendations, ensuring they are evidence-based, practical, and responsive to realities on the ground.

NPC director general, Kaire Mbuende, noted that the diverse expertise of the force places the country in a strong position to engage constructively, refine proposals, and build consensus around actionable solutions within the limited time available.

“We must remain mindful of the citizens we serve; those who depend on accessible, quality healthcare and the professionals who deliver these services under often challenging conditions,” he reminded the task force, encouraging candid, solution-oriented discussions.

The outcomes of the workshop will directly inform the finalisation of the Task Force Report for submission to the President by the end of March 2026.

The Presidential Task Force on Health is made up of seventeen members, namely: Dr. Linda Nangombe, Dr. Tshali Iithete, Dr. Christo Burger, Dr. John Keiseb, Dr. Anna Hangula, Dr. Melody Lyn Chipeio, Nian Berg, Dr. Theo-Ben Kandetu, Dr. Edward Fynn, Immanuel Kadhila, Rian Horn, Hannelie Botha, Dr. Monika Pendukeni, Dr. Jacobus Angara Sheehama, Patricia Hangala, Annemi Higgs, and Dr. Fenny Shidhika.
