In a statement last week, the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy assured the public that the country remains adequately supplied with fuel.
The Ministry’s executive director, Moses Pakote, has assured the public that there is no fuel shortage of any sort; not on diesel, petroleum, or any other variants. He stated that the Ministry is in constant communication with fuel importers and will take necessary steps to ensure enough supply.
Pakote has not, however, stated for how long the country will be supplied from the current stock, nor where the country is sourcing its fuel.
Namibia is a net importer of fuel from different countries such as Qatar, the UAE and Indonesia. In January 2026, Namibia imported petroleum oils worth N$1.5 billion, mostly from Bahrain, the UAE, and Italy.
Most of Namibia’s oil suppliers are also affected by the situation in the Middle East, where the USA and Israel have attacked Iran. Iran controls one of the biggest shipping routes in the Middle East.
