
Agri-entrepreneur, Kakunandunda Katuuo has urged the youth to pursure agri-entrepreneurship as a viable and scalable economic opportunity.
Katuuo was speaking at the Youth Indaba 3.0 at the University of Namibia’s Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus in Ongwediva last week where she explored various alternative and sustainable income pathways for the youth.
Katuuo’s presentation also highlighted innovation, sustainability, and income diversification within the agri-business space, particularly for young people in rural and semi-urban communities.
Namibia’s agriculture sector has featured more frequently in various speeches, however, practical efforts in investments and enabling is yet to be seen.
Institutions such the Namibia Agronomic Board are ramping up efforts to launch various schemes in support of farmers. Adding to such efforts, the Board also closes the border when there is sufficient production of certain crops.
The Old Mutual Foundation Indaba brought together approximately 150 learners, students, young professionals, partners, and industry leaders under the theme ‘From Learning to Earning: Creating Sustainable Futures.’
The Indaba is designed as a practical and solution-oriented platform focused on equipping young Namibians with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to transition from education into meaningful economic participation.
