Namibia’s Roger Suren (18) finished 44th out of 170 riders in the Men’s Junior Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda. Suren completed the 119.3km course 10:29 behind Great Britain’s Harry Hudson, who claimed the gold with a time of 2:55:19. Hudson proved his class in the final third of the race by launching an attack to the front of the paleton and riding unchallenged for the final 35km of the race. He finished 16 seconds ahead of France’s Johan Blanc. Jan Michal Jackowiak from Poland took the bronze.
Suren was the third highest placed African rider. Eritrea’s Nahom Efriem finished 11th overall, whilst South Africa’s Josh Johnson finished 35th overall. Namibia’s Marco Thiel also competed in the race, but had to withdraw after an accident.
