Sacu headquarters to be inaugurated

The Southern African Customs Union (Sacu) Executive Secretary, Paulina Elago said the Sacu headquarters will be inaugurated this Thursday, November 12, 2015.

The event will be graced by Namibian President Dr Hage Geingob will be the host, South African President and Chairperson of the Summit of Heads of State Jacob Zuma, President of Botswana Lieutenant General Seretse Khama Ian Khama, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Swaziland Dr Barnabas Dlamini and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho Mothetjoa Metsing.

Elago said the programme of the day will run from 08h00 to 13h00 and thereafter, the Heads of State and Government will convene for an informal meeting at which they will consider issues related to the implementation of the Sacu work programme.

She said it is a historic event and in order to ascertain that all the preparations are in place, the inauguration will be preceded by a meeting of Council Ministers on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.

“The Council of Ministers consists of the ten (10) Ministers of Finance and of Trade and Industry from each Member State,” Elago said
