NamPol is on a man hunt for a cop accused of stealing N$31 000 in Katutura last year.
Laurence Aebeb,39, who lives in Otjiwarongo was supposed to appear in court last week along with two other police officers implicated in the case but he did not show up for the scheduled hearing.
Aebeb and the other two accused, Joseph Michael and Charlton Diergaardt, are all out on bail.
Court documents say that on 24 August 2011 the trio approached a man in Katutura and threatened to arrest and lock him up if he failed to give them N$81 000.
The police officers managed to get N$31 000 from the complainant, the documents further say.
They are now facing charges of theft, corruptly using their office or position for gratification and extortion.
The court documents did not indicate whether the money was recovered upon the officers’ arrest last year.
When Michael and Diergaardt appeared in court last week without their colleague a warrant of arrest was issued for him.
The case was remanded to 30 April for further investigations and tracing of Aebeb.
