The Namibia Non-Governmental Organisation Fund (NANGOF) Trust together with the Polytechnic of Namibia have signed a Memorandum of Agreement today at the UN plaza in Katutura.
The event was marked by the annual NGO expo that is aimed at eradicating poverty. In the same light, the signing ceremony was an act that would enable the polytechnic and the NGO to work together.
This would be achieved in such a way that the Poly would supply the NGO with student interns, thus making it possible for the NGO to also benefit from the academia. The benefit would mean that the NGO would acquire knowledge through research done by the students. They then (students) would be exposed to the working arena.
They would get training in various fields and also have the experience of working in an NGO. The executive director of NANGOF Ivin Lombardt says that this agreement would greatly expose the students to what is on the ground. ‘’we have been negotiating on the agreement for a year now and it would help us benefit from the academia as well’’ NANGOF Trust is said to provide internship for students and the practical experience they get would enable the students to cultivate their careers thus helping contribute to their communities. NANGOF is in the umbrella network of NGOs in Namibia.
The trust through the membership works is geared towards the creation and sustenance and enabling a suitable environment for NGO. It also emphases on democracy, poverty eradiation and human rights. The agreement with the polytechnic is a win situation for both parties involved.
