Six accused aged between 15 and 20 years were arrested for one count each of housebreaking with the intention to steal.
The group, which consists of Wesley Haobeb (20), Mervin Saron (19) and Rowen Hansen (18) appeared in the Juvenile court at the Katutura Magistrate’s Court. The other accused cannot be named because they are minors.
Three of the suspects were remanded in police custody, while the remainder of the suspects were placed in the care of their parents and legal guardians.
The case was postponed to 29 July for further investigations, and for the screening of the alleged juvenile offenders.
Each of the suspects stated that they wished to conduct their own defence. They were all arrested on 10 June this year for the alleged housebreaking and theft.
According to court transcripts, during their last appearance, some of the suspects requested that they be granted bail of N$1000 because the items valued at N$3000 were returned.
However, the magistrate refused due to the severity of the case.
In an unrelated case, two boys aged 13 and 18 also appeared before the Juvenile Court for one count each of housebreaking with the intent to steal.-faith@thevillager.com.na
