The Katutura Regional Court, last week, stopped court proceedings after realising that a wrong suspect had been brought to court in a rape case involving a three-year old girl.
The right suspect, Jonas Uirab, was allegedly in police custody.
The case dates back to 2007, when a then 18-year old Uirab allegedly abducted a three year old girl and then continued to sexually assault.
He was held in custody till 2010 after he was charged with abduction, rape and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
He was supposed to make an appearance on 4 March 2011 for bail application but his investigation officer was in hospital and his lawyer failed to come to court to represent him.
The case was struck off the court roll while the court is tracing Uirab.
