The long awaited 90th  birthday party of Tate Andimba Toivo ya Toivo has officially kicked off at the Independence Stadium.
It’s all fun and festivities as everyone is in a good mood and amongst the dignitaries is the Minister of Trade and Industry, Calle Schlettwein, as well as the Minister of Finance, Sara Kuunkogwela-Amadhila and Minister of Agriculture, water and Forestry, John Mutorwa.
Also part of the celebration is a young Lady from South Africa who is the name sake of Tate Toivo ya Toivo, she met him in South Africa in 1993.
“Today we are 90 and Tate Toivo has been our strength, our spine. You inspire us every day and we are happy that we are 90 today,” she said.
Ya Toivo is a veteran Namibian politician, a founding member of the Swapo party and an iconic liberation hero who was at some time imprisoned at Robben Island.
