Rape trio freed

by Linekela Halwoodi
Courts

Three young men - one of whom might have fathered the baby of a Wanaheda girl in 2009 after they allegedly took turns to rape her – appeared in the Katutura Magistrate Court last week.
The men; Eliud Ndilua (21) , Petrus Shomongula (22) and Toivo Tyapa (22) who were arrested on 3 December 2009 were told that their case had been withdrawn  until their docket  was found.
The three men and the girl were having a ‘good time’ in Wanaheda on 26 September, 2009 and when the girl got too drunk to stand. The trio then took advantage and allegedly raped and impregnated her.
Investigations have not indicated yet as to who exactly fathered the baby that was born last year.
However, blood samples have been taken from the accused and the child for a paternity test.
They are currently all out on bail and have pleaded not guilty to the rape charges. Although the court will be re-opening the case when the docket is found and brought forward, the trio is free to go - for now.
