Woman poisons ex-boyfriend

A Wanaheda man Lucas Shitemo says his ex-girlfriend, Maria Shikwambi, tried to kill him through poisoning his beer last week.
Relating his story to V-Metro a day after being discharged from the hospital, Shitemo  said he was saved from the jaws of death by a friend who rushed him to the hospital.
“After finishing the bottle of beer she gave me, I began to shake, then perspiration and nausea kicked in,” said Shitemo.
He said his friends told him that he had collapsed moments after vomiting before being rushed to the hospital.
“I only remember vomiting black stuff and what followed after that was relayed to me by my friends at the hospital,” he said.
Health officials informed him that the contents of the beer he had gulped were poisoned, and he immediately knew the culprit.
“It could only be my ex-girlfriend who handed me the beer and the bottle was already agape when she handed it to me.  It only made sense that the only person who would want to harm me is her,” he said.
He claimed that Shikwambi cheated on him and she has been bitter that his life has gotten better after their breakup.
“She cheated on me with another man because he had a car, I was broke and jobless at the time. I got a job as a truck driver and I’m getting money,  instead of being happy for me she’s now trying to make my life a miserable. She started by spreading lies about me in the neighborhood,” he said.
Shikwambi however denied poisoning Shitemo, claiming he had asked her to open the beer for him.
“He asked me to open the beer and drank a little bit before handing it to him because he had dental problems. I broke up with him because he was very jealous of my male friends. He was so insecure he couldn’t take the fact that I have male friends with cars,” she said.
When V-Metro inquired further, this reporter was kicked out the yard  and threatened with trespassing charges.
“If you are going to publish that story, I’m going to sue you both you and Lucas so bad you end up being lovers behind bars,” Shikwambi raged.
