Pensioner killed over xenophobic slur

A 57 year-old Angolan man, Emanuel Mutjimba, has been reminded in custody by the Oshakati magistrate court for stabbing a 72 year old pensioner, Erasmus Emanuel to death.
Mutjimba will re-appear at the same magistrate court on June 22 and is charged with murder.
His case was opened at Oshakati Police station under case number, CR 103/05/2014.
An infuriated Mutjimba allegedly stabbed Emanuel, from Oniikombo Onampira village in Oshana for calling him Ombwela, a derogatory Oshiwambo word used to refer to foreigners.
The incident happened at around 18h00 last week at a cuca shop were the two and others were drinking.
 According to information gathered by Metro, the two had an altercation which eventually degenerated into a fight.
Emanuel died on the spot.
Onlookers confirmed that Mutjimba pursued Emanuel after their drink and fought with him before stabbing him on the stomach.
Mutjimba was consequently arrested and in court wrapping a white bandage around his head to cover an injury he claimed was inflicted on him by the pensioner.
