Standard Bank Namibia (SBN) has once again pledged its support to the Miss Namibia pageant by committing N$70 000 for this year’s edition.
The corporate communication manager, Surihe Gaomas Guchu, says, “SBN supports the development, empowerment and recognition of women in all sectors of society. By sponsoring the Miss Namibia and Namibia Women of Excellence project SBN is contributing towards raising awareness of the important role women play in our Namibian communities.”
She also stresses the bank supports the event beyond the beauty pageant. “Ultimately, our support focuses on women who are contributing to the upliftment of the poor and the needy”.
During her reign in 2014/15, Miss Namibia will work closely with the charity organisations of this year’s SBN’s Women of Excellence winners.
Last year, SBN rewarded Women of Excellence, Michelle of the Michelle McLean Children Trust and Patricia Sola of the Hope Initiative Project with a total of N$35 000 each.
Miss Namibia pageant national director, Conny Maritz notes, “We are so thrilled SBN has confirmed its commitment towards the 2014 Miss Namibia pageant.”
