Mutwa confirmed to Lieutenant-General

The newly appointed Chief of the Defence Force John Mutwa has officially been conferred to the rank of Lieutenant-General today at the State House by President Hifikepunye Pohamba.

Mutwa’s appointment took effect on 1st January this year following the retirement of Lieutenant-General Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah who retired on 31st December 2013.

“With his promotion from Army Commander to Chief of the Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Mutwa has assumed a very important national responsibility,” said Pohamba.

Formerly a Major General, Mutwa is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the efficient administration of the Defense Force.

Discipline being one of the core elements in any force Mutwa has also been issued a Warrant to convene General Courts Martial and to issue Warrants to Officers under his command to convene General Courts Martial.
