Witchcraft threats in Havana

A Windhoek woman is now appearing in court for assault and two other charges after threatening to bewitch and have a woman killed in Havana, Katutura early this year.
Hendrina Nelango (46) from Zimbabwe Street in Havana, Katurura, allegedly started harassing Johanna Lahinga in March this year when she went to her house and started throwing stones at the former’s shack.
Nelango was, however, not done with Lahinga and came back a month later on 14 March and started screaming that she would kill Johanna, bewitch her or even pay people to and kill her.
While causing the commotion at Johanna’s house, she yelled for the neighbourhood to hear, that Johanna is HIV positive and that she is a rotten walking corpse full of worms.
Lahinga feeling endangered, reported Nelango to the police who charged her with assault by threat, malicious damage to property and crimen injuria.
Nelango was arrested on 15 March this year but was released a day later on N$1000 bail on conditions that she does not make any kind of contact with Lahinga.
She will be returning to court on 10 November this year and is defending herself in the matter.
