edward Haindongo (26) was caught after he was trapped in the pigsty while being pursued by fellow villagers for breaking into a house to try to rape women at Ombwato Village in Okahao.
While being chased by an angry group of people from the house where he had broken into, Haindongo saw it fit to hide in the pigsty.
According to owner of the pigsty, Paulus Kambonde (56), he woke to pig noises and voices of people in his yard.
“I could hear that there were people in my yard and I woke up to see light. They called out my name and told me what had happened and we started to look around,” Kambonde said.
Little did they know that Haindongo was not only in the pigsty, he was trapped there as well.
“One of the guys found him and called out to us and that’s how we found him. He couldn’t move. He was just trapped there and looked at us,” said Kambonde.
According to one of the three women who were in the house he had broken into, Nangula Iimene (23) Haindongo tried to remove her underwear in order to have sex with her while she was fast asleep.
“The door was locked from the inside but somehow he managed to get inside and we didn’t hear him. I only felt him undressing me by trying to remove my panties and I screamed,” said Iimene.
She said a group of men from the house who had been drinking at the bar next door decided to chase after him.
She said it was not the first time a man had entered a woman’s room her while asleep in the village.
“Men here watch women drink and follow them to see what rooms they are going into. It’s a danger when a woman is very drunk because the men will come in and have sex with her when she’s out,” Iimene said.
Kambonde who was released from the Okahao Police Station after interrogations last week Thursday could not be reached for a comment.
