On 20 October this year, a Chinese national, Liu Yanga, 46, assaulted a man in China Town following an altercation between him and his victim.
Yanga, who now faces common assault charges and a certain Dr Asoka Seneviratne, got into an argument that led to Yanga starting to push Dr Seneviratne.
According to the complainant, Yanga hit his hands and then continued to point him in the eyes. Although he did not sustain serious injuries, he filed a case against Yanga who was arrested a day later.
When Yanga briefly appeared in court this week, he was summoned to return on 15th January next year while final investigations are undertaken.
