A prison escapee who has been on the run for five years is back in police custody.Shomay Kashondatile form Havana was initially arrested for attempted murder and possession of a fire arm without a licence as well as possession of ammunition in April 2005.Kashondatile had allegedly made an attempt to kill Hofni Kondjeni when he shot at him with a 38 special revolver. He was arrested and spent seven months at the Wanaheda Police station where he escaped early November that year. But it was not long after that before he was re-arrested and charged with escaping from lawful custody. He was granted N$200 bail but soon violated the conditions when he failed to come to court on a date set by the court. For this, Kashondatile found himself behind bars again. When he was asked how he had escaped from custody, he told the court that there was confusion in the visiting area and a police officer refused him entry to go back into the cells and he walked out of the police station. Kashondatile also told the court that the police did not find a gun on him the day he was arrested but that the gun and the seven bullets of 9mm calibre were only found in the house where he was currently residing.
He was returned to the cells after the court ordered him to come back to court on 30 November this year.
