Insurance giants Old Mutual has awarded the winning prizes to the overall winners that competed in the annual Victory Race Series on Tuesday.

Lavinia Haitope and Kristof Shaanika both became N$ 15 000 richer for finishing overall wineers in the senior female and male categories respectively.

Anna Amukoto and Sofia Nambambi received N$10 000 and N$ 5 000 for finishing second and third in the women category while Simon Shipingana and Uveni Kuugongelwa were awarded the same amounts respectively for finishing in the same positions.

Junior Fryman who scooped the series the second year running received N$12 000 in the Junior Category while Ndapandula Nghinaunye scored 1st place for the Junior Female Category and received the same amount.

Speaking at the prize giving ceremony, Gim Victor, CEO: Retail Business, Old Mutual Namibia, reiterated that the company's 12-year commitment of over N$12m including this year's sponsorship of N 510 00 is affirmation of the calibre that this race holds.

Since the launch of the Victory Races in 2001, over 20,012 individuals have crossed the finishing line which shows the eagerness of our athletes to be part of this event. 

Shaanika and Haitope will take part in the Two Oceans Marathon in South Africa on 30 March 2013, as part of Old Mutual’s sponsorship of N$ 16 100 which will cover their travel, accommodation and entry fees to this prestigious regional race.”
