Woman shoots man in face

by Linekela Halwoodi

An angry Windhoek woman allegedly shot her lover in the face after they had a heated argument on Willibard Kampone Street in Katutura in 2008.

Gertruida Rooi, 42, made another brief appearance in court this week, in continuation of her four year case.

On 2 November 2008, Rooi pulled out a revolver, after a disagreement with Edwald Rooi and shot him in the face almost killing him.

The man who narrowly escaped death is now in legal battle with Gertruida who was charged with wrongfully and intentionally attempting to murder him.

The unemployed Gertruida who had to borrow money to pay for the legal aid application has, however, not found legal representation yet, therefore prolonging her case.

On 6 September she told the court that the person entrusted with paying the fee never showed up.

“I am unemployed and I still have to get the money. I found out that the N$100 was never paid by the person I sent,” she told the court.

Her case was postponed to 10 October 2011 for a final chance to apply for legal aid.
