Man goes psycho on relatives

Riaan van Eden, 26, now has his relatives in Katutura worried and scared after he went on an assault rampage on last month.
Eden has a restraining order against him by Pieka Witbooi and Simon Kalekera who he assaulted in April this year. He allegedly went to Witbooi and Kalekera’s house and stabbed Kalekera on the right shoulder.
Kalekera then went to the police and asked for a protection order against him. Eden managed to keep his distance from them until the 7th of last month when he went back to that house and beat up Witbooi and threatened to stab her with a knife. Fearlessly, he returned to the same house the next day to beat up Kalekera and then threatened to stab him too.
Upon his arrest last month for assault and breaching of a protection order, he told the police that he was ill and needed medical attention. When he was taken to the hospital, he started plotting his way out. He jumped from the hospital’s 2nd floor and ran away while the police thought he was being examined. He was, however, rearrested before he could go far.
When he appeared in court last week, he did not want to wait till his next appearance and told the court he wanted to plead guilty already, “I want to plead guilty, I am guilty.” He is expected to reappear in court on 16th of this month for his final docket.
