I have made my mark at NCCI - Shaanika
Tarah Shaanika has been a mentor of local industries for 14 years as the Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and has now reached the end of the road at NCCI.
His agreement with the board expired in September, and he was not looking to renew it.
Although his work as CEO is done at NCCI, he told The Village this week that he has not taken up any jobs and cannot reveal his next move but leaves NCCI with a ‘happy heart and clear mind’.
“I can not go into detail now but what I can tell you is that I have had the best years of my working life at NCCI. I will pursue other interests of my heart and will always be serving the nation whenever the need arises. I am sure that all will be going well at NCCI.”
“I am not going anywhere specifically, but I will remain pretty active in the private sector,” Shaanika told The Villager.
Shaanika said he has made his mark and it cannot be removed. He also said that he has achieved his goals as the head of NCCI and the board of directors reluctantly granted him his wish to leave the NCCI.
Shaanika made it clear that his reasons for leaving NCCI has nothing to do with work-related issues.
“Honestly my departure has nothing to do with work. I had an obvious and open relationship with all the employees at NCCI. There is nothing such as infighting amongst the employees, and I have served my country well, and it is just time to move on I will always be there for any Namibian that needs help from me in any way,” he said.
He added that he is happy the way the media has been approaching him for clarity and comments as the media is the only platform Namibians can be well informed.
Meanwhile, the board has resolved to appoint the Manager of Member Services at NCCI Charity Mwiya as the acting ceo pending the appointment of a substantive ceo and this appointment has been made with immediate effect.
Mwiya has worked at the NCCI Secretariat and as part of her responsibilities she also worked as the company secretary.
NCCI has said that it is happy that Shaanika has undertaken to continue making his contribution to the work of the NCCI and supports Shaanika, therefore wishes him all the best for the future.
