A VISIONARY BEGINNING
The story of IUM is inseparable from the life and vision of its founder, Professor David Richard Namwandi.
Raised in the rural village of Okapya in the Oshana Region, Professor Namwandi understood firsthand the challenges that came with limited access to quality education.
Motivated by the dream of building an institution that would bridge the educational divide and promote excellence, he laid the foundation for what would become Namibia’s first private university.
In 2002, IUM was formally inaugurated by former President Sam Nujoma, solidifying its legitimacy and purpose.
