
The latest Africa Economic Outlook (AEO) 2026 by the African Development Bank (AfDB) notes that despite trade and geopolitical shocks, Africa remained one of the world’s fastest-growing regions, alongside Asia.
The AfDB forecasts that growth in Africa is projected to slow slightly to 4.2% this year before picking up again in 2027.
In 2025, Africa remained home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The projections by the AfDB for the following African countries are expected to record strong economic growth:
- South Sudan (34.4%)
- Senegal (8.6%)
- Uganda (7.2%)
- Rwanda (7.1%)
- Niger (6.9%)
- Djibouti (6.9%)
