Four Namibians will be competing in the Africa Continental Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championships which will be held on 2-3 March 2019 in Stellenbosch, South Africa, president of Namibian Kickboxing Federation (NFK) Anita de Klerk has said.
“History will be made as it will be the first time that the NKF will be sending a woman to compete in an International Jiu-Jitsu Championship,” she said.
She added that all eyes will be on Delano Muller as he is ranked number one in the UAEJJF (United Arab Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation) South African National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
Delano won internationally at the Azambuja International Jiu-Jitsu championships in Brazil and obtained a 2nd place in the Gladiator Jiu-Jitsu International Championships that was also hosted in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Delano was invited to compete in Abu Dhabi in Jiu-Jitsu on special invitation due to his excellent performances in international competitions.
“The sport of martial arts is growing in Namibia and its becoming very competitive. Namibia is well equipped and the students are of international quality. The NKF is proud to have a World Champion, Delano Müller and he is also the Junior Sportsman of the years 2016 and 2017,” de Klerk said.
She added that there are numerous clubs affiliated to the NKF across three regions.
