New NWR Board Appointed

Former diplomat and adviser to the president of the UN General Assembly, Haroldt /Urib has been appointed Board Chairperson of the Namibia Wildlife Resort (NWR).
The parastatal announced the appointment by Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises Ipumbu Shiimi on Monday.
The Namibia Unoversity pf Science and Technology (NUST) Marketing, Logistics and Sport Management Head of Department, Dr. Bianca Tjizumaue will serve as the Deputy Chairperson, while Coenraad Coetzee, Dr. Erling Kavita, Sam Januarie, Nadrie Lahner, and Yvette Nambahu make up the rest of the board.
NWR Managing Director Matthias Ngwangwama highlighted some of the achievements of the previous board, chaired by Ambassador Leonard Iipumbu, which he said, included NWR realising a profit for the first time in 2019 and steering the company out Covid-19.
Ngwangwama also expressed his happiness with the recruitment of the new board.
“The new board members bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise, and NWR is confident that they will provide excellent leadership and guidance to the company. With their guidance, NWR will continue to grow and expand, offering world-class services and experiences to its customers,” he said.
Meanwhile /Urib stated, “I do look forward to working together with the NWR team to help grow the organisation’s business, an important player in the tourism industry of Namibia.”
In a statement on Thursday, the resort management company stated that it looks forward to working closely with the new board to continue providing “exceptional service to its customers while promoting Namibia as a premier tourism destination.”
