Several murder or attempted murder crimes were committed this long weekend as Namibia celebrated the 32nd Independence Day anniversary.
Among them, police arrested a 34 years old Namibian woman on Saturday 19 March in Otjomuise, Windhoek, at 2:00 am after she allegedly took a knife and stabbed her boyfriend (38) to death after an argument erupted between the two of them. The next of kin is not yet informed.
On the same day at Ongande Street, Okuryangava, a 51-year- old man was arrested after he allegedly shot two male victims without reason. According to the police, the suspect is a member of the Women Network.
Meanwhile, at Boss bar, at Omukotola location, Okandi Village, in Omusati region, Sakaria Kamhulu (18) was allegedly stabbed by a suspect who is known but not yet arrested with a knife on the neck. As a result, Kamhulu died on the spot.
According to the police, Kamhulu went to buy bread at Boss bar. After purchasing the bread, the suspect followed Kamhulu outside, stabbed him, and left the location. Next of kin were informed.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Ongongo on the same day in the Ogongo constituency. He is believed to have followed Hendriana Kambikiti (51) from the location and beat her once on the head with a piece of a broken object and raped her. Kambikiti died as a result of beating.
According to the police, he further robbed the deceased of her Nokia cellphone valued at N$ 300.00. The cellphone was recovered. Kambikiti’s body was transported to Okahao police mortuary for post mortem.
In Ogongo still, in a case of murder that was allegedly committed in January but was only reported now, it is said that a 23-year-old woman placed a pillow on a 1-year-old and some weeks old baby girl’s face and pressed on her until the baby died.
It is further alleged that the woman dug a hole behind her sleeping room after and buried the body in a shallow grave. The suspect was arrested.
On Friday at Okamuinjo Bar in Okamatapati, Otjozondjupa region, the day before, at 11 pm, a 37-year-old Namibian man allegedly provoked another man (49) by insulting him and later started beating him. According to the police report, the victim retaliated, and the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times on the head, right arm and one deep stab wound in the lower neck.
The victim was taken to Okamatapati clinic and further transferred to Okakarara State Hospital but in a stable condition. The suspect was arrested.
