Sanlam Namibia on Tuesday handed over N$50 000 to the Cancer Association of Namibia(CAN) in support of its annual hats and roses ladies gala breakfast.
CAN’s highly celebrated hats roses gala breakfast which was officially relaunched after two years since the pandemic will take place on 1 October 2022 at Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the production of the event was placed on hold due to event restrictions.
The event aims to share a message of hope that although cancer is real, it can be beaten, and one can make a difference during the disease, starting by taking hands and standing together and bringing attitudes of positivity and hope back to those who have lost it during their battles.
It also serves as a fundraiser to sustain CAN’s women’s health community clinics. Various project partners take hands to present this much-loved morning of hope annually.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Sanlam marketing, and communications manager Denille Roostee thanked the association for the work they do to help fight cancer in Namibia.
“It is your passion that inspires us to take hands with CAN and we again reconfirm our support towards this very important cause,” she said.
According to CAN cancer amongst Namibian women remains critical with more than 54 per cent of all cancers diagnosed in Namibia being female cancer diagnosis breast and cervical cancers taking the lead.
“We again look forward to welcoming 500 ladies as in the past to share in this amazing morning of hope, and to raise funds that will enable CAN to help financially vulnerable women fighting cancer,” said CAN chief executive officer Rolf Hansen.
Tickets are now for sale at N$550 per person or N$5 500 for a table of ten and includes a ‘pink luncheon’ with drinks and gifts to spoil the ladies.
